About
Welcome to Anxiety Anchor. My name is Jen and I'm a therapist. I am also someone who has been challenged with severe anxiety for most of my life. I’ve had some very trying times over the past two decades, but through a lot of hard work I have managed to get to a place of happiness and calm. I still have my ups and downs like everyone else, and my life still includes anxiety, it's just that it's no longer defined by it. I have learned how to find calm and I want to help you do the same.
When it comes to helping you, I have the advantage of having learned about anxiety from the inside out. I had to find ways to manage it because my own quality of life depended on it. Talk about motivation. As a result, I devoured everything I could about the topic and have been doing so for nearly two decades. In addition, I have a Bachelor of Science (Concentration in Psychology), a Bachelor of Social Work and a Master's Degree in Social Work. I am also registered as a private practitioner with the Nova Scotia College of Social Workers. I’m not ashamed of my struggles with mental health issues and you shouldn't be either.
I believe that people with anxiety and other mental health issues benefit with the help of people who have experienced it themselves. It's a type of understanding that you can't learn in school or from a book. I started Anxiety Anchor because I wanted people to have access to counselling services from someone who has not only studied it, but who lives with it and knows it well. I hope you find the content here helpful. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or comments about the website and/or the counselling services and packages that I provide.
